Our pals over in Lexington are turning one. Seems like only yesterday…they grow up so fast! Their birthday celebration starts tomorrow and it’s probably worth the trip. They are taking over their own taps with some special beers that I imagine will be spectacular, judging by all their other beers.

Lexington’s original brewery and taproom commemorates first birthday by rolling out rare and specialty kegs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lexington, KY- After a year of tremendous growth, Lexington’s original craft brewery and taproom, Country Boy Brewing, celebrates its first anniversary with three nights of festivities Friday, February 8 through Sunday, February 10.
Where Country Boy’s taproom traditionally serves admired beers of other breweries alongside their own creations, this weekend’s birthday celebration will be all about Country Boy. All 24 taps will feature their own products, ranging from crowd favorites “Cougar Bait”, an American Blond Ale, or “Cliff Jumper”, an American IPA to rare and limited production beers like a version of their “Black Gold Porter” that has been aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels.
Armed with 7 of their own original recipes, owners and Central Kentucky natives Jeff Beagle, Daniel “DH” Harrison, and Evan Coppage opened their doors on February 10, 2012. Since then, they have seen Country Boy’s business explode. While those first 7 beers were produced on a system capable of producing no more than 30 barrels at a time, the past year has seen Country Boy upgrade their capacity to 155 barrels and turnout nearly 40 different beers.
Along with more choices at the brewery’s taproom, County Boy’s growth means their beers can now be found on tap at bars across Lexington, as well as in Louisville, Northern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Georgetown, Frankfort, Owensboro, Elizabethtown, and Paducah. Their beers have become so popular that in January, Country Boy began distributing in Indiana.
“When we started, all we had were a passion for beer and a dream of turning our home brewing experience into a small craft brewery of our own,” said Harrison. “We knew that if we brewed the beer we wanted to drink the way we wanted it brewed, other people who shared our love of craft beer would come. That said, we’ve been blown away by the reception. It’s been amazing.”
In addition to serving Kentuckians their take on classic beer styles like amber ales, porters, IPA, and stouts, Country Boy has been very involved in the community. The brewery has ran promotions that have benefited charities like The Hope Center, Samaritan’s Purse, God’s Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, and The Amen House. They have also been one of the leading advocates for Lexington’s growing food truck scene.
The birthday celebration will run through the Country Boy Brewing Taproom’s regular operating hours, Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th from 12:00 pm- 12:00 am and Sunday, February 10 from 1:00 pm- 10:00 pm. Food trucks will be parked at the Brewery throughout the celebration.
