Best Local Beers – 2013

Cresant Smith’s Favorite Local Beers

John asked me for a top 5 list of Louisville Beers. With Christmas near I thought I would make this a Christmas wish list of Louisville beers. Some I have not tried and some I simply have not had enough.

Bluegrass Brewing Company – Kashmir Godzilla – I haven’t had this one but hearing Scott talk about this on made my hops antennae erect! Come on BBC bring it back!

Apocalypse Brewing Company – Fall Out Dust – I have had this one, but yearn for more. I love black pepper on most everything from cantaloupe to cottage cheese. This beer may be too much for some but I never get tired of the fresh cracked peppercorn taste.

Cumberland Brewing – Dortmunder Lager – I have not had this one but I appreciate any small brewer that puts out a lager. I know they are more difficult to brew and take longer to mature – taking up valuable brewery real estate. I love the dry biscuity crispness of a good Dortmunder. Bring it back Cumberland!

New Albanian Brewing Company – Bonfire of the Valkyries – I haven’t had this one but I do love a smoky beer. My friends know that I am a vegetarian and they are puzzled that I like smoke beers because they say they taste like beef jerky! I don’t taste meat – I just taste that campfire goodness!

Against the Grain Brewery – Rico Sauvin – I have had this one and I see that it is in the tank now so maybe Santa can bring me some soon! I love the tropical fruit IPAs. Bring it Santa!

Maybe a secret Santa can make my Christmas dreams come true?
