Best Local Beers – 2013

John King’s Favorite Local Beers

5. ATG Tropical Segway Kitten – This isn’t a beer for no pussycat.  This play on 3Floyds is a riproaring Double IPA which leaves you as sticky and sweet as your momma listening to Def Leppard.

4. BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout – A staple in my beer diet.  Fresh out of the barrels at BBC on Clay and a bartender who makes the ladies blush make for a great combination when visiting Clay Street.

3. ATG Bo and Luke Peanut Butter –  The sweetness of the peanut butter overtakes the smokiness of the beer.  Liquid Reese cups to be exact.  I’m not a huge smokey beer fan, so the peanut butter gives my mouth a break from a Virginia Slim.

2. NABC Houndmouth – Wheats are my least favorite style, but throw some hops in there and I’m a fan.  Also, a big fan of the band Houndmouth.  This excellent representation is extremely crushable whether it be a hot summer or a cold winter.  The perfect local beer for after a run.

1. ATG 70K – Creamy. Chocolaty. Awesomy.  The 35K can’t touch it’s bigger brother.  It’s like Sam Cruz bearhugging you in a wool sweater when it’s really cold out.  The beer I am patiently waiting for to be sold in a bottle.
