Cheers For Local Beers is a collaboration between Bluegrass Brewing Company (Clay & Main), Flat 12 Bierwerks, West Sixth Brewing, and LouisvilleBeer.com. The intention of Cheers For Local Beers is to promote local beer and have fun while doing it. It’s not intended to be just another “pint night” or “tap takeover.” Its local breweries working together to create events that aren’t typical and throwing those events in a fun atmosphere.
The first ever Cheers For Local Beers event occurred on February 23rd at Vernon Lanes. With the music blasting and the beer flowing, participants got to strap on their bowling shoes and bowl for Free! Green pins would appear randomly in different frames. Those who bowled a strike, while a green pin was present, won prizes. The bowler who got the most strikes throughout the duration of the 2 hours won a customized tap handle trophy. For those who weren’t in the bowling mood, the pool table for was open for free play.
The event was a success drawing quite a large crowd even though it was the Monday night following the Tailspin Ale Fest prior that weekend. There was a competitive, yet, fun spirit in the air. The competition for the most strikes was close but at the end of the day, Dustin Jennings rolled 13 strikes to secure victory of the customized tap handle trophy.
Be on the lookout for more Cheers For Local Beers events to come in the near future. The events will occur every couple of months. You can find out about upcoming events under the Beer Calendar on LouisvilleBeer.com. Expect them to continue to be “outside of the box” and lots of fun. Cheers!
