BBC to Release “Jam Session Ale”

Jam-Session-Ale-PosterBluegrass Brewing Company is releasing a special seasonal beer in conjunction with the PNC Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet. The kegs will be tapped January 24 at all BBC locations (3rd Street, 4th Street, St. Matthews and the Taproom at Clay & Main) and will be available while supplies last.

From the press release:

BBC Brewmaster, Jeremy Hunt, describes his ‘Jam Session Ale’ as “an easy to drink, straw colored, balanced, sociable ale, in the English tradition.  4.5% abv and 21 IBU.  It is made with the finest malted barley and hops that money can buy and that fact really shines through in its flavor.” Hunt also adds, citing beeradvocate.com [that a session beer is] “any beer that contains no higher than 5 percent ABV, featuring a balance between malt and hop characters (ingredients) and typically, a clean finish – a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. The purpose of a session beer is to allow a beer drinker to have multiple beers, within a reasonable time period or session, without overwhelming the senses or reaching inappropriate levels of intoxication.  ‘Jam Session Ale’ is the beer that I would want to share a few of with Cash, Perkins, Lewis and Elvis.”

The national tour of the Broadway musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, inspired by the electrifying true story, will make its Louisvillepremiere February 12-17, 2013 as part of the PNC Broadway in Louisville series. Tickets will go on sale Friday, December 7 at 10:00 am.  Ticket prices start at $25 and will be available at The Kentucky Center box office, TicketMaster outlets, by visitingwww.KentuckyCenter.org, or by calling 502-584-7777. Group orders of 10 or more may be placed by calling 502-569-3060.

The international Tony® Award Winning musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is set on December 4, 1956, when an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together. Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” who was responsible for launching the careers of each icon, brought the four legendary musicians together at the Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis for the first and only time. The resulting evening became known as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll jam sessions in history.
