We have yet another out of town brewery coming to the Bluegrass state, this one’s even from outside the 48 contiguous states. From the press release they sent:
Kona Brewing Company has announced it will add three new states – Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin – to its distribution lineup this month. Kona Brewing’s flagship Longboard Island Lager, and Big Wave Golden Ale will be available year round in 6-pack bottles and on draught throughout the new states.
Robert Rentsch, Sr. Director of Brand Marketing said: “We’re thrilled to be expanding Kona Longboard Island Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale to Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin. Last year at this time when we started our expansion in the Midwest, consumers were excited to enjoy a Kona brew and the Liquid Aloha spirit. We’re looking forward to brightening up this winter and bringing some Liquid Aloha to consumers in our three newest states.”
Kona Brewing Company, which celebrates its 20-year anniversary this year, continues to show strong growth across the Mainland and Hawaii with double digit growth for more than five consecutive years. In addition, the demand for Liquid Aloha has fueled Kona Brewing to grow at twice the rate of the craft category. Added Rentsch “Kona is excited to continue this trend of growth in 2014 by introducing these new markets to our portfolio of authentic Hawaiian craft beers.”
About Kona Brewing
Kona Brewing Company was started in the spring of 1994 by father and son team Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa, who had a dream to create fresh, local island brews made with spirit, passion and quality. It is a Hawaii-born and Hawaii-based craft brewery that prides itself on brewing the freshest beer of exceptional quality, closest to market. This helps to minimize its carbon footprint by reducing shipping of raw materials, finished beer and wasteful packaging materials. The brewery is headquartered where it began, in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island. For more information call 808-334-BREW or www.KonaBrewingCo.com.
