The New Albanian Brewing Company’s legendary Thunderfoot has been contained long enough for a rare bottling and limited release. Thunderfoot is an Imperial Stout aged on oak chips and dried Bing cherries. Due to the labor-intensive nature of this brew, only one small batch is brewed each year. This is the first time it has been bottled.
Thunderfoot gained national recognition and notoriety on the beer festival circuit. Here are the details and description from Madison, Wisconsin’s Great Taste of the Midwest:
Malts: Special Pale, Simpson’s Roasted Barley, Simpson’s Dark Crystal, Flaked Oats
Adjunct: Pure free-range sucrose
Hops: Quad-hopped with Northern Brewer and Willamette
Special treatment: Dried tart cherries fall into the hopback, and medium-toast American oak chips and dried Bing cherries go into each keg for aging. One year later: In your glass.
Yeast: House London
OG: 1.106 or 25.2 degree Plato
ABV: 12%
IBU: 84
Color: 72.7 degree Lovibond SRM
Ultimate Urban Renewal – There can be no doubt that Thunderfoot actively renounces the art of the gentle tweak, the mild revision, and the imperceptible hint. Rather, Thunderfoot advocates palatal renewal the old-fashioned way – complete, irresistible and certain.
Saturday, October 1, is the first-ever limited release of Thunderfoot 22-oz bomber bottles for carry-out purchase by the general public. ThunderFoot bombers will be available for one day only at both the New Albanian Public House and Pizzeria and the Bank Street Brewhouse. Should there be any left at the end of the day, it will be distributed to Indiana’s better beer bars and retailers. Price is $15 per bottle, $160 per case.
