LCBW Event Ideas

I know some of you craft beer-serving places out there, might be wondering what type of Louisville Craft Beer Week event you should have at your bar, restaurant, liquor store, bottle shop. If you carry craft beer in Louisville, I highly suggest hosting an event during this year’s LCBW. It’s kind of a no-brainer. We’re here to help…

After last year’s successful Louisville Craft Beer Week, we sent out a survey to our visitors (and LCBW attendees) and asked them some questions about what they thought of LCBW 2012. One of the more important questions was “What types of events would you like to see more of in the future?”. Here’s what they came back with. Steal these ideas, please!

  • Shut down a street somewhere. bands and beer.
  • Special beer tappings like the founders event at louisville draft house; local beer nights.
  • As many rare or one-off beer releases as possible. also, pint glass giveaways are always fun.
  • I can’t imagine adding anything more than this year. i can’t afford (time, money or health!) to attend more.
  • More pet friendly events
  • More beer dinners!
  • More free beer. oh, more events featuring the local brewing clubs.
  • One centralized event amongst the many events.
  • Anything with beer and bands. i’m a jazz dork, so i loved the nachbar event. but anything from jazz to bluegrass works.
  • Ones that don’t start so late at night, like at silver dollar
  • Local breweries need to step it up. my favorite local brewery, bbc, has cut down theri beer list tremendously. needs more variety.
  • Brewing demonstrations
  • More beer dinners with pairings of food and beer
  • More rare beer tappings.
  • Tap takeovers and chances to try rare or limited beers!
  • Taste of inspiration
  • More rare/uncommon things. most events were too commercial and have been done to death. we need something new!
  • More sour and funky beers should be featured
  • Outdoor events are nice. able to bring dogs.
  • Maybe be able to have a beer street festival aside from nulu fest
  • More meet the brewer events would be cool
  • Beer dinners
  • Maybe a speaker on homebrewing, a short seminar
  • Craft beer trivia game, craft beer speed dating or a singles and mingles event.
  • Specialty beer tastings
  • Something more like flights of all the local brews
  • Beer dinners
  • Extended time- so many places/ beer, and so little time.
  • More steal the glass. cumberland getting more involved. a collaboration beer made by the local breweries for lcbw
  • More tastings, more homebrewing seminars
  • Less multiple events on the same night, more “large-scale” offerings
  • More of the same
  • Beer debuts

PS – Here are the answers to the question: “Do you have any other feedback? Had you heard of LouisvilleBeer.com before LCBW?”

  • Keep up the good work
  • I hadn’t heard of louisvillebeer.com before LCBW, but it was well branded throughout the events, and i am now aware and interested.
  • Great job! and yes.
  • More information on the beer at the festivals. i’m allergic to peppers and some now have jalapenos in them. many servers didn’t know anything about the product and there were no descriptions yes, i had heard of louisvillebeer.com before.
  • Yes, i had heard of it
  • I’m a member of the forum at louisvillebeer.com (bill b) i just wish more people used the forum.
  • Yes
  • Went to atg release of country boy, ran out of beer very early.
  • I have been following louisvillebeer for quite some time now and read the articles and forums regularly. thank you for creating the site and promoting local establishments! your site is yet another reason why louisville is a world-class craft beer enthusiast destination!
  • A little more advance notice of events would be helpful for planning. (the info may have been out there, but i didn’t find out until the start of beer week.) and yes, i had previously heard of louisvillebeer.com! 🙂
  • Yes. love it
  • I cannot express the amount of hate i had for the bbc casktoberfest. it was over rated. for people to say it was geared towards the refined beer drinker was not true. i get there and it’s like a typical bar. in a parking lot. there was nothing rare or uncommon about it. it was like brews at the zoo. had i known that i never would have come. i hyped it up because of the description in the leo to my friends. ten of us came and i felt embarrassed as hell. it was not as expected to say the least. i guess i know to avoid the hype next year.
  • Keep up the great work on the site and with louisville beer week!
  • Yes i had.
  • Cask fest needed more cask beer. the first year there was tons this year not so much
  • Great job, guys!
  • I’m so glad louisville is celebrating local beer all around the city. it was great fun to know so much was going on even if i couldn’t attend all of it and it was a great way to get me to new places in town. well done!
  • Great event. Good job
  • Maybe t-shirts (& memorabilia) available at participating establishments? the whole foods flights and bites sounded like a great idea but it was so early and so short that i wasn’t able to attend at all
  • Awesome job!!!!
  • Enjoyed my 1st exposure & looking forward to next year? thanks for your effort!
  • sorry to miss a few events because of yom kippur, but otherwise found it very enjoyable.
