This beer is available in 22 oz. bombers and was bottled in November 2011. The body was an appealing, rich apricot color and very clear. There was little lacing after the head settled.
The smell was sweet like marmalade with a noticeable amount of alcohol, but at over 9% that is not surprising. There was a peach cobbler character to the smell, fruity and sweet.
The taste reflected the aroma in its sweetness. Candy like fruitiness and pungent hops oils were there too. There was a heavy maltiness that was somewhat tempered by a long lingering bitterness. Full bodied, there was slickness in the mouth and it was modestly carbonated. This one finished semi-dry.
Unfortunately for me this one was pretty well balanced. I prefer a sharper bitterness in double IPAs but if you like sweet and bitter – this one is worth seeking out.
